Garden Club of Denver’s own Suellen White, GCA Conservation Vice Chairman Native Plants/Pollinators/Endangered & Invasive Species, was recently asked by ConWatch Editor Bennett Burns to write an article for the fall issue. Burns was planning an issue about oceans and their critical state right now and wanted an uplifting article about seaweed. Suellen dove right in and had fun researching and writing about seaweed and its many attributes and benefits. Did you know that seaweed can replace plastics in product packaging, or that seaweed serves as an antacid by reducing methane production when fed to cows and other livestock?
According to Suellen, “Seaweed clearly has great potential for meeting the world’s environmental problems. Who knew?”
