Six intrepid trash collectors, aka GCD members volunteering for the Annual Aurora Clean-up of the High Line Canal Conservancy, scoured the banks for trash all in the name of Earth Day 2023. Armed with heavy duty trash bags, clever gripper/pickers, gloves, and determination, our club members joined a dozen other volunteers on Saturday, April 8th.
Meandering 71 miles from Waterton Canyon to nearly Denver International Airport, the High Line Canal requires a lot of care. In 2021 volunteers removed more than 9,000 pounds of brush, trash, and weeds from the Canal. On Saturday, our club volunteers helped clean up the Canal and in a small way preserved and protected it for everyone.
