October Open Meeting was a Huge Success

On October 8, 2024 the Garden Club of Denver hosted a community event to showcase the book, Visionary: Gardens and Landscapes for our Future, by co-authors Claire Takacs and Giacomo Guzzon. Amy Mower introduced the Garden Club of Denver, highlighting its history, relationship to Denver Botanic Gardens, and its mission.

Claire and Giacomo presented to a full Sturm Auditorium audience. Claire’s beautiful photographs highlighted stunning private and public gardens from around the world that addressed both sustainability and climate change with outstanding results. As Claire presented both her slides and her comment on each photo, Giacomo gave his own interpretation from a landscape design/architect perspective, highlighting areas relating to water use, soil choice, climate considerations, etc. Enthusiasm for the event ran high and the book sale and signing that followed in Mitchell Hall was successful. Visionary’s message exemplified the need to change methods of gardening and landscaping, while considering climate change, in the hopes of improving our natural world.
